Mask making with Year 1

The children in year 1 made masks by recycling old materials.

They attended a special whole school assembly all about useful our old clothes can be to others. As a school we decided to bring in our old clothes and shoes, so they could be sent to countries like Africa, to be recycled and reused by families that needed them.

"I am happy to tell you that the children at Manford Primary collected 98 bags of clothes and shoes. Well done!"

Year 4 visit the forest

The Woodland Trust invited the year 4 pupils to join them on a nature walk through Hainault forest.

Each group was given a 'Journey stick'. They were encouraged to collect natural materials from the forest floor and tie them to the stick. These items included seeds, leaves and feathers.

A wheelchair friendly garden

During the summer holidays a path was laid around the environmental garden to allow greater access. A new ramp will enable our wheelchair users to enjoy the garden and take part in all activities.

Woody says "Watch this space as the year 4 children are joining the Woodland Trust on a healthy walk around the forest."

Our School Environment

Welcome to the Manford Environmental Science Blog.

At Manford Primary we teach the children to care about the environment and all living things. We also help them to understand that some of our actions can harm the environment.




This is Woody. He lives in our school nature garden. The children visit him regularly and use the area to search for mini beasts, observe life in the pond and see how the plants change from season to season.

Woody says "Remember that Manford Primary recycles your old clothes. There is a special bin for them by the infant hall."
